Alternate Ending ;)

13 Years Later
Mrs.Linde: Are you sure you couldn't stand a little longer? I love your company dear Nora.
Nora: Oh I'd love to Kristine but, I best be on my way. I've progressed so much. I have a fabulous job and now im about to move into a wonderful little house!
Mrs.Linde: Oh I'll miss you so much! :(
[They embrace]
Nora: (whispers into Kristine's ear) Thank you...so much. Really, for everything. I couldn't ask for a better more helpful best friend, but sadly I've over stayed my visit. I will miss you so much! I'll visit soon.
[Nora says her goodbyes to Krogstad and their children. Mrs.Linde wipes the tears off her face as Nora collects her luggages and opens the door. She slowly turns, says one last goodbye and closes the door with hesitation.]
Mrs.Linde: (hugs Krogstad) I can't believe shes gone.. :(
Krogstad: I know hunny :( She'll be back soon.
[Nora begins to walk through the park. She walks past a wishing well and stops for a brief minute.]
Nora: (in her head) This is probably stupid but Im a changed woman. It wouldn't hurt i guess. [She pulls out a penny] I wish that Kristine, Krogstad and their lovely children will continue to be well in health. I wish my children, being as grown as they can be, be in good health and become prosperous and successful in whaterver they do. I wish that I'll become happy and successful in my new job as a doctor. Speaking of doctors...I wish that Dr.Rank is having a lovely life in heaven, God bless his body and soul. I never was able to give him the proper goodbye...
[Nora begins to have a flashback.]
Dr.Rank: I'll be there for you...body and soul.
[Flashback ends. She hears a voice behind her]
?: Body and soul...
[Nora turns. There standing, in plain sight is no other but...Dr.Rank.]
Nora: WHAT?! YOUR...YOUR ALIVE...?!
Dr.Rank: My dearest Nora..I never was able to die properly! They found a cure for me 3 days after I came to say my goodbyes to you and your husb...oh excuse me Helmer. [They hug and Dr.Rank steps back] Helmer explained everything to me when i returned. Your children have grown up a great deal and...my my so have you Nora ;)
Nora: (giggling) Well, I'm a different person now I must say :) I would love to catch up with you doctor but i seem to be a bit busy at the-
[Dr.Rank grabs her bags.]
Dr.Rank: I'll help you with those. Now where do you seem to be going?
Nora: I have found a beautiful home not too far from here and its moving day!
[Bells begin to chime at the church across the street. A crowd of people begin to rush to see what the commotion is about. It's a wedding and the bride begins to walk down the stairs and everyone cheers. Dr.Rank and Nora join the crowd to watch the bride and to Nora's suprise its her daughter Emmy. Emmy catches a glimpse of Nora, drops her bouquet and runs to her mother.]
Emmy: MOM!
Nora: OH HOW I'VE MISSED YOU!
[Nora kisses her on the forehead and they hug. Torvald breaks up the hug.]
Torvald: Well well well, if it isn't the useless mother.
Dr.Rank: TORVALD! Are you going to continue with the distasteful insults?!
Torvald: YES...SHE...DESERVES...TO...DIE...
[Torvald begins to push Nora into the wall and takes out a knife.]
Torvald: FOR 3 YEARS MY DEAR CHILDREN HAVE ASKED ABOUT YOU! WHERE YOUVE BEEN AND HOW YOU WERE DOING! FOR YEARS I'VE TOLD THEM YOU WERE DEAD!  NOW THERE ARE GOING TO WITNESS YOUR DEATH!!! WHY YOU HAVE COME TO RUIN THIS!? WHY ARE YOU HERE?! YOU ARE UNWANTED!!
Nora: (Shrieks) Please Helmer I beg of you! PLEASE!
Emmy: DAD NO!
[Torvald places the knife underneath Nora's chin and chuckles]
[Dr.Rank pushes Torvald to the ground]
Dr.Rank: NO! THEY'RE GOING TO WITNESS YOUR DEATH!
[ Dr.Rank whips out his knife and stabs Torvald in the chest. Blood rushes out. Dr.Rank removes the knife.]
Dr.Rank: I've....I've killed my best friend....I can't live any longer. [He stabs himself. Nora screams at the sight of her love, Dr.Rank, dead on the ground and her ex husband. She runs and a crowd forms around the bodies...in horror.]

Act 2 :)

Finally we reached the suspensful part of the play ;) I always knew something was going to happen between Dr.Rank and Nora. Its the way he acted around her. It seemed like he cared a litle more for her than he did to Helmer. I thought it was just a little crush but when he said he loved her O_O I didn't know he would take it THAT far. Also I get that Nora is desperate but to ask her best friend for money, especially after he told her he loved her, was a little rude. Then the whole scene where she told him she had to jauntily dance the tarantella and she showed him her silk stockings...awkward.
Helmer is being his RUDE self as always. "Nice? To do what your husband says? All right little song bird, I know you didn't mean it like that." Could you be anymore sexist? But sometimes, I feel as if she deserves it. She doesnt see the way he treats her and she even stooped down to his disreputable level and called herself the exact same pet names. " If your little squirrel were to ask you very prettily for something;Your skylark will sing all over the house; I'll be a fairy and dance on a moonbeam for you Torvald." Ok Nora there's no need to stoop that low. Now to Mrs. Linde and Krogstad. Did anyone figure out whats going on between them? Mrs. Linde said that Krogstad used to  say that he was at her service body and soul. And so did Dr. Rank to Nora. That's kinda weird.

Act 1 :D

Act 1 has been pretty interesting so far :) They are just a few things I absolutely HATE! Why does Helmer call Nora all those stupid pet names? I mean just cause you think she doesn't do work and doesn't make any money in the household doesn't honestly mean that you can just treat her like shes five. That's so rude. "Now, now my little song-bird mustn't be so crestfallen, Well? Is the squirrel sulking?" She is not your song bird or you personal "trophy wife." She's your wife and should be treated with respect not some immature child. Now Nora is actually really sneaky. She was able to raise all the money just for her husband without him even suspecting a thing. She went out of her way to actually try to create a stable environment for her family and keep her husband safe and healthy. Now yes i do realize she is a little frivolous with her squandering money left and right but i mean shes a woman. Most women just need to splurge on a few things.

"Ah if only you knew what expenses we skylarks and squirrels have, Torvald."  Now from that quote we can clearly see shes not just talking about her love of spending, but the huge loan she owes to Krogstad. Hes another guy thats extremely annoying. I mean just because you feel as if you job is in jeopardy doesn't mean you can just add on to the original "deal" you made with Nora. The agreement you two came to was that Nora would pay back the amortization little by little and she has. You can't take control of her like that. What I feel Nora should do though is just tell Helmer. It will be a little difficult, but it's a lot easier then hearing it from someone you despise that your wife went behind your back and borrowed money when she knows how much you hate borrowing. And is it me or does anyone else see kind of a "connection" between Nora and Dr.Rank? I don't know but this whole "best friend" act isn't really cutting it. I mean the way they talk to each other seems a little flirtatious. Also, what's the whole deal with Mrs.Linde and Krogstad? They look WAY more than just aquaintences, don't you think?

Henrik Ibsen was born in Skien in Norway. As a child he dreamed of being an artist. His mother was a painter and she loved theatre. His parents became poor and his education was interrupted at the age of 15. He was sent to be an apprentice for a pharmacist. He moved in 1850 to Oslo to attend an irregular school. Here he wrote two plays, but his dream was now to become a physician. However, he failed the entrance exam. He turned to poetry and literature.

He was appointed in 1851 by Ole Bull as "stage poet" of Den Nationale Scene. He performed more than 150 plays and in 1852, he went on a study tour to Germany and Denmark. He returned to become an artistic director and in 1858 he married Suzannah Thoresen.  Ibsen received an award for foreign travel from the government in 1864. He left to travel Italy in April for 27 years and during this time is when he wrote Brand. He wrote for and about the middle class and living in suburbs. He also wrote about dramatic times and situations. Sadly a stroke struck him at around the 1900s and he was unable to write from then on. He is a well known author worldwide.
"A woman cannot be herself in the society of the present day, which is an exclusively masculine society, with laws framed by men and with judicial system that judges feminine conduct from a masculine point of view." (from Ibsen's Workshop, 1912)

I can't really see the relation to the title of the story and the worksheet we completed in class, but it probably has to do with symbolism or maybe a gift that someone receives.
